Garonne Ossature Bois Inaugurates Its New Production Site in Tonneins

Short: Garonne Ossature Bois inaugurated its new 1,300 m² production site in Tonneins on June 19, equipped with an automated line costing €650,000. The total investment exceeds one million euros, with support from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and the Lot-et-Garonne Department.

On June 19, Garonne Ossature Bois (G.O.B.) inaugurated its new production site located in Ayet, in the commune of Tonneins. This project, which represents a total investment of more than one million euros, marks a decisive step in the development of the company and the wood industry in Lot-et-Garonne.

At the heart of this new industrial tool is a 1,300 m² building entirely dedicated to timber frame construction, equipped with a latest-generation automated production line costing €650,000. This technology aims to improve manufacturing precision, shorten production times, and reduce the physical strain of workshop work. The project benefits from the support of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and the Lot-et-Garonne Department, as part of a shared desire to strengthen a local sustainable construction industry.

Currently employing four staff members, the company plans to reach six employees by the end of the year. This strengthening of the workforce will accompany a significant increase in production capacity, which will rise from 800 m² of timber frame per month to 2,000 m², equivalent to about ten 200 m² houses each month. A second expansion phase is already planned for 2030, with the goal of doubling this capacity again.

G.O.B. thus aims to reconcile industrial performance, quality of works, and improvement of working conditions, making its new site a model of organization combining modernity and artisanal know-how.

A historical partner of Maisons SIC in the individual construction sector, Garonne Ossature Bois now wishes to diversify its activity towards public and tertiary markets. To support this transition, the company relies on its integrated design office, SIGA, which will constitute a differentiating asset in responding to more complex tenders.

G.O.B.'s participation in the energy renovation of the Montastruc school concretely illustrates the potential of timber framing for public buildings, both in terms of thermal performance and speed of implementation. With this new site, Garonne Ossature Bois clearly affirms its ambition to establish itself as a key player in low-carbon construction in Lot-et-Garonne.
