When measuring lumber, standards (GOST 6564-84, GOST 6782.1-75, GOST 6782.2-75, OST 13-24-86) are followed. Thickness is measured anywhere along the length but not closer than 150 mm from the ends. Width of edged boards is measured anywhere along the length where there is no wane, but not closer than 150 mm from the ends. The width of edged boards with non-parallel edges is measured at the midpoint of the length. The width of unedged boards is measured at the midpoint of the length as the half-sum of the widths of both faces (excluding bark and sapwood). The measurement result is rounded to 10 mm, fractions up to 5 mm are disregarded, and fractions of 5 mm and more are rounded up to 10 mm. Length of boards is measured as the shortest distance between the ends. The measurement result is rounded to 0.01 m.
