Decodom definitively ceases production

According to information from Aktuality.sk, the worst-case scenario has materialized for the Topoľčany furniture manufacturer Decodom, which had been discussed within the company environment for several months. The end of production was independently confirmed to the editorial staff by two sources directly from the company.

Decodom had long been among the best-known Slovak furniture manufacturers. It built a stable reputation on the domestic market, particularly thanks to the production of kitchens, living room sets and sectional furniture. The company, headquartered in Topoľčany, operated in the industry for nearly three decades.

Decodom’s financial problems did not arrive suddenly – they developed gradually, with the first signs noticeable already at the beginning of the year. The firm faced a sharp drop in revenues, rising costs, weaker demand and growing obligations to the state. Nevertheless, management long believed the situation could still be turned around. In February, the arrival of a strategic investor and a new wave of orders were mentioned as possible solutions. According to available information, however, neither of these options ultimately proved sufficient to save the company.

Decodom entered a restructuring process that was intended to allow the company to settle its obligations and continue operations. The Nitra District Court decided in March to initiate restructuring proceedings and approved the restructuring in April. Even this step, however, did not avert the final scenario – despite the court decision, the company is heading toward bankruptcy and production is definitively ending.

The extent of the financial problems is also documented by publicly available data. According to the list of debtors of the Social Insurance Company as of May 18, Decodom owes the institution more than 900,000 euros. The end of production marks the fall of a well-known Slovak brand and brings deep uncertainty for employees, suppliers and the entire Topoľčany region.
