A large-scale scheme of theft of forest resources involving forestry employees and local residents was exposed in Volyn region

Short: In Kamen-Kashyrskyi district, illegal deforestation worth more than UAH 6.4 million, organized with the participation of forestry workers and local residents, was exposed.

A high-profile scandal involving the theft of forest resources has broken out in Volyn region. The illegal activities of the criminal group were exposed through joint efforts of law enforcement agencies. The operation uncovered a large-scale scheme organized with the participation of forestry workers and local residents.

The crimes took place in the forest land of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”, where they illegally cut down forests worth more than UAH 6.4 million. This figure reflects only the approximate financial damage caused to the state, as well as environmental damage, as massive deforestation can have serious consequences for the region.

The scheme involved six forestry employees - people who were supposed to protect state resources from such criminal acts. Their complicity not only complicates the investigation, but also reveals problems in the forest management system.

In addition to the forestry employees, 15 residents of the Kamen-Kashyr district were found to be involved in the criminal activity. These individuals were most likely engaged in felling trees for quick profit. Only thanks to the coordinated actions of the Volyn regional police and the Internal Security Department of the National Police, it was possible to expose the involvement of so many people in illegal activities.

The organizer of the criminal activities, unfortunately, committed suicide, probably realizing the extent of his guilt and the consequences that would follow. This case shows that the organization of illegal activities not only brings material losses, but can also lead to personal tragedies.

The investigation by the National Police is ongoing to establish all the details of this illegal activity and to punish those responsible. This case emphasizes the importance of increasing control and transparency in the management of natural resources, as well as the need for severe punishment for environmental crimes.
