Ukrainian furniture exports are showing significant growth. Compared to last year, exports increased by 15.5%, reaching $909 million. This is an important step for Ukraine, as the woodworking and furniture industries together are among the country's top 10 export commodity groups, accounting for 5.7% of total merchandise exports.
This significant increase in exports comes amid positive trends in the global furniture market. The growing demand for Ukrainian furniture abroad is a testament to the high quality and competitiveness of the products. Oksana Donska, a board member of the Ukrainian Association of Furniture Manufacturers, expressed confidence in the further growth of this segment. She believes that there are all the prospects for crossing the $1 billion mark in export revenues in the near future.
Global trends in the furniture market have a positive impact on the export of Ukrainian products. Consumers abroad are increasingly choosing Ukrainian furniture due to its high quality and affordable price. This allows Ukrainian manufacturers to expand their supply geography and increase exports.
At the same time, it is worth paying attention to the situation on the domestic furniture market in Ukraine. Demand for furniture has halved over the past three years. This may be due to economic difficulties within the country, changes in consumer preferences, or rising raw material and production costs that affect the final price of goods.
Nevertheless, even despite the decline in domestic demand, exporting companies have demonstrated the ability to adapt to changing conditions and find new markets outside the country. This gives grounds for optimism about the future development of the furniture industry in Ukraine in the global market.
