In 2024, Zhytomyr region confirmed its leadership among the regions of Ukraine in terms of timber harvesting. With a total volume of 16.4% of the national level, the region not only demonstrated high efficiency in the use of its forest resources, but also significantly outperformed other regions. This success was made possible by the coordinated work of the region's forestry enterprises, which are among the largest suppliers of wood in Ukraine.
In 2024, forestry enterprises in the Zhytomyr region harvested 2,443,800 cubic meters of roundwood. This figure included a significant share of fuel wood, which accounted for 56.5% of the total volume. This balance between fuel and commercial wood demonstrates a pragmatic approach to the use of forest resources, where each product finds its place in the market.
The remaining 43.5% of the harvest consisted of commercial roundwood used in construction and industry. This structure of forest products allows the needs of both the domestic market and Ukraine's foreign partners to be met, which is key to the development of the region's economy.
Zhytomyr region sold 2,511,800 cubic meters of roundwood on the national market at an average price of 1,513.1 UAH per cubic meter. Economic feasibility and a strategic approach have ensured a stable financial flow for the region while preserving its natural potential.
These achievements were recently published by the Main Department of Statistics in the Zhytomyr region, which is an important indicator of the successful activities of the region's forestry enterprises. Timely and accurate management of natural resources has provided Zhytomyr region with a significant economic advantage, confirming its status as a leader in this industry.
