Since the exchange trade reform in July 2021, when the new Law "On Commodity Exchanges" was adopted in Ukraine, the entire raw wood market has moved to licensed commodity exchanges. This was done to ensure transparency and efficiency of trade. Since then, trade has been under the strict supervision of DALRU, raising standards of quality and trust in the market.
In Kyiv, the three-year anniversary of this reform was recently celebrated by organizing a round table entitled "Results of the three-year functioning of the organized timber market on licensed commodity exchanges: results and expectations". The event was organized by the "Exchange and electronic platforms" association. together with the public union "Association of Woodworking Enterprises of Ukraine".
Representatives of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine", DALRU, people's deputies, owners of woodworking enterprises and heads of commodity exchanges gathered at the round table. All of them praised the quality of work and the new tools that have been introduced to the market since the reform, which made it possible to make the market more clear and orderly.
According to Oleh Padalka, director of the "Exchange and electronic platforms" association, during 2021-2024, a rapid development of wood exchange trade was observed. Thanks to the active interaction of market participants and organizers, today's event allowed not only to summarize, but also to determine further steps for the development and improvement of legislation.
One of the key points of the event was the address of the round table participants to the People's Deputies. They proposed to determine the exchange mechanism for the sale of wood at the legislative level, which will help stabilize and regulate the market further.
