Recently, a lot of questions and misunderstandings have arisen around the activities of the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine". First of all, this is due to the importance of forests for Ukraine, which serve not only as environmentally valuable resources but also as a significant element of economic growth, especially in the context of the country's post-war recovery. Forest resources are critical for maintaining the ecosystem and can also contribute to the reconstruction and development of the economy after the war.
According to the Constitution of Ukraine, forests belong to the people, so their management and conservation is a matter of national importance. Not only economic performance, but also the environmental well-being of the country depends on the successful implementation of the state policy in this area. Today, we see that the team of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" failed to effectively cope with the priority tasks, which led to losses in this important area.
In addition to the whole situation, the military context is added. In times of war, public attention and control mechanisms are mostly focused on the frontline and national security issues, which makes it difficult to monitor the situation in the forestry sector. This aspect allows some problems to remain out of sight of both the public and specialized organizations that could influence the solution of these problems.
Forest management in Ukraine requires fundamental reforms. Economic losses due to ineffective management can be enormous, especially when the country is in the process of rebuilding after the war. In order to avoid significant economic consequences, it is necessary to implement the principles of transparency and efficiency in the use of forest resources. This may include modern management and accounting methods that will allow for better management and utilization of these resources for the benefit of the state.
One of the most important aspects is public involvement in the management process. Public control can be an important factor in reducing corruption, improving governance mechanisms, and increasing transparency in the activities of the SFE. Informing citizens and enabling them to control how the state manages forest resources is an integral part of effective governance of this important sector.
Thus, forest management in Ukraine encompasses both environmental and economic aspects. Only coordinated actions by the state, civil society, and business can ensure the efficient use of forests that meets modern challenges and needs. Therefore, reforms in the forestry sector are not only relevant, but also critical for the sustainable development of the Ukrainian economy and environment.
