The Government of Ukraine Extends Experimental Project for Online Issuance of Logging Tickets and Certificates Until 2027

The Government of Ukraine has made an important decision to extend an experimental project aimed at introducing innovations in the forestry sector. The project, which involves the online issuance of logging tickets and certificates of timber origin, has been extended until June 1, 2027.

This step is part of a broader strategic plan to increase transparency and integrity in the timber trade, a crucial component of Ukraine's economy. It is worth noting that the experimental project was launched in May 2023 at the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The primary goal of this project is to prevent abuses and falsification of documents that could lead to illegal logging and the creation of fraudulent paperwork. The use of an online system for issuing logging tickets ensures that all stages, from timber harvesting to its sale, are transparent and traceable. This significantly reduces the possibility of illegal timber trade, as all transactions are recorded in a unified electronic database.

Another objective of the project is to ensure the traceability of timber circulation, from the moment of harvesting to export. Such an information system not only allows for monitoring the volume and origin of timber but also enables the analysis of the efficiency of forest resource use. This is particularly relevant in current conditions, as timber export remains one of the key components of Ukrainian exports.

The extension of the project until 2027 demonstrates the government's readiness to invest in the long-term development of the forestry sector, increasing its openness to the public and international partners.
