Verona solidifies its position as the international capital of biomass heating: from February 25 to 28, 2026, Progetto Fuoco returns, the world's most important event dedicated to technologies for producing heat and energy from wood and pellets. The 2026 edition introduces a new feature of European significance: the European Pellet Forum, which will take place in Italy for the first time after previous editions in Austria, France, and Poland, strengthening our country's role in the energy transition and the wood-energy supply chain.
Organized by AIEL in collaboration with the European Pellet Council and Bioenergy Europe, the Forum will be held on February 27 from 9:00 to 13:00 and will provide a unique opportunity for dialogue among producers, distributors, technicians, institutions, and stakeholders. The event comes at a pivotal moment for the sector: after significant fluctuations in prices and supply recorded during 2022–2023, the pellet supply chain is entering a phase of industrial maturity. «The pellet supply chain is entering a new phase of industrial maturity,» the organizers emphasize. Technological evolution is pushing the sector beyond domestic applications toward integrated, high-efficiency solutions, such as smart boilers, district heating networks, and industrial uses of biomass.
The Forum will address critical issues for the sector's future: production and supply dynamics, European energy and environmental policies, pellet certification and quality, traceability along the supply chain, and the fight against illegal imports. This event promises to outline the prospects of a rapidly transforming market.
For Adolfo Rebughini, General Director of Veronafiere, the presence of the European Pellet Forum marks a qualitative leap for the event: «The European Pellet Forum strengthens Progetto Fuoco's role as an industrial platform for the biomass-energy sector. It is not just a trend observatory, but the place where companies, institutions, and European networks define standards, interoperability, and new development opportunities.»
Domenico Brugnoni, President of AIEL, also underscores the strategic value of pellets in the European energy landscape: «Pellets are now a strategic resource for the European energy transition, capable of combining environmental sustainability, supply security, and economic development.» Hosting the Forum in Italy, he notes, means «highlighting our country's contribution and giving a voice to a supply chain that looks to the future with confidence,» with a particular focus on quality, innovation, and market transparency.
Progetto Fuoco confirms its status as the leading international stage for the wood-energy supply chain. The fair will bring together hundreds of companies from around the world, showcasing a comprehensive overview of technologies and products: from state-of-the-art stoves and fireplaces to high-efficiency boilers, from wood-burning kitchens to barbecues, as well as components and accessories for systems. Major Italian and international players will be present, ready to display the most advanced innovations in biomass heating.
In addition to the exhibition area, a rich program of conferences, seminars, and technical workshops – organized in collaboration with AIEL – will delve into the most current topics related to technological innovation, environmental sustainability, and European regulations. The detailed program will be published on the event's official website.
Thanks to the combination of exhibition, training, and professional dialogue, Progetto Fuoco 2026 establishes itself as a privileged observatory of sector trends and a central player in the energy transition, highlighting the strategic role of biomass in the renewable energy landscape.
