UBM Development AG has celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the innovative LeopoldQuartier Office in Vienna's Leopoldstadt district. This quarter is a significant milestone in the field of sustainable architecture, as it is Europe's first urban quarter in timber hybrid construction. Completion is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025 and construction is progressing rapidly.
Thomas G. Winkler, CEO of UBM Development AG, emphasized the importance of wood as the building material of the 21st century. He emphasized Vienna's pioneering role in the use of this construction method, which not only offers aesthetic advantages but also contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions. Wood is a renewable raw material and its properties offer excellent opportunities for sustainable construction.
The LeopoldQuartier Office is not only an example of modern, environmentally conscious design, but also of adaptability to the changing needs of the working world. On an area of 25,400 square meters and nine floors, the building offers modern office space that is geared towards the "new way of working". The architecture combines high ceilings with natural wooden surfaces to create a healthy working environment that promotes well-being and creativity.
A particular feature of the building is its flexibility: office space can be customized to meet the specific requirements of modern businesses. This adaptability allows tenants to use their workspaces efficiently and productively.
In addition, the first floor of the LeopoldQuartier Office will be enriched with supermarkets and restaurants, which will expand the range of infrastructure on offer in the quarter. These facilities make the quarter not only an attractive place to work, but also a lively part of the city that offers a wide range of services.
There are 127 car parking spaces available to users in the basement, which meets the requirements of modern urban mobility. At the same time, smart technology in the building ensures intelligent, energy-efficient and sustainable operation. This includes innovative heating, cooling and lighting systems that optimize energy consumption and further reduce the district's carbon footprint.
With the LeopoldQuartier Office, UBM Development AG is setting an example for the future of construction. The combination of traditional materials with state-of-the-art building technology heralds a new era in urban development. This approach is an example of how sustainability and comfort can go hand in hand to achieve both economic and ecological goals.
"Realizing a project like this is an important step at a time when we need to rethink and question traditional building concepts," says Thomas G. Winkler.
