Law enforcement officers recently stopped an attempt to illegally export valuable timber at the border with Romania. During customs control, 17 wagons loaded with wood, which under the guise of fuel was actually valuable timber, were detained. The enterprise tried to export more than 1,500 cubic meters of products on the eve of the ban on the export of fuel wood, which came into force on November 21.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the prompt actions of customs officers and law enforcement officers prevented significant losses to the state budget. Despite the complexity of the illegal export schemes and the attempted conspiracy, the illegal export of valuable raw materials was successfully stopped.
The investigation has already begun. Investigators promise to establish all the circumstances of the crime and identify the persons involved, and the Prosecutor General's Office is monitoring the progress of the investigation and will regularly inform the public about its progress.
The incident attracted the attention not only of the Ukrainian public, but also of international partners, emphasizing the importance of controlling the conservation of forest resources and combating illegal activities that harm the country's ecology and economy.
It is expected that the results of the investigation and further measures by the authorities will increase security and stability in the region and strengthen trust in state institutions.
