Short: In the Zhytomyr region, a project is being implemented to help women master non-traditional professions, promoting gender equality and professional development.

In the Zhytomyr region, an experimental project initiated by the State Employment Service is being implemented, aimed at helping women master professions traditionally considered male-dominated. This project has already attracted 94 women from the region, the highest number of participants among all regions of the country. Zhytomyr region demonstrates a growing interest among women in expanding their professional horizons.

Interestingly, women of various ages—from 19 to 60 years old—are participating in the project, which highlights its accessibility and appeal. The project offers a wide selection of 31 professions, allowing participants to choose those that match their interests and abilities.

The most popular professions among women in Zhytomyr are wood processing machine operators and tractor drivers, with 42 and 31 participants enrolled, respectively. The popularity of these professions reflects a shift in stereotypes and a growing readiness among women to pursue specialties previously considered atypical for them.

In addition, technical professions such as electrician, boiler operator, and electric gas welder are also highly valued and are among the preferred choices of participants. This proves that women are ready to work alongside men in fields that require technical knowledge and physical endurance.

The project in the Zhytomyr region is a significant step toward ensuring gender equality in the labor market and reflects women’s desire to prove that professional choices should not be limited to traditional female roles. It provides opportunities for learning in new fields, career development, and strengthening economic independence for women, marking an important stage on the path to gender balance in society.
