Finnish company Metsä Wood is actively expanding its operations in Germany and Europe, demonstrating its ambitions for the future of European wood construction. "The new plant will fundamentally change the construction industry in Europe", – emphasizes Mika Joukio, the company's CEO. The investments are aimed at strengthening its market presence and setting new standards in innovation and sustainability.
A key area of expansion is the production of Kerto LVL - an innovative wood-based material that ensures resource availability and raises environmental standards. The company's new laboratory is conducting research and development on green building materials. "Green building materials are central to the industry of the future", – explains Sandra Haapasalo, Head of R&D. Continuous innovation helps the company to remain competitive in the long term.
The new mill creates around 150 jobs, which is particularly important for regions experiencing structural change. Jussi Matikainen, responsible for human resources, is looking for qualified specialists to strengthen the team and develop innovation potential. The expansion thus contributes to economic development and strengthens the labor market.
Sustainability is central to all production processes. "All processes are designed to minimize energy consumption and reduce CO2 emissions", – explains Kari Väätäinen, responsible for environmental issues. The company positions itself as an industry leader and contributes to environmental protection. Despite the challenges of the market, Metsä Wood remains optimistic: "The company's stable position allows it to grow even in times of economic uncertainty", – says CFO Teemu Kämäri.
The expansion in Germany and Europe confirms Metsä Wood's commitment to innovation, labor market development and sustainable management, demonstrating the growing importance of wood construction in Europe.
