SBI Submits Case of Former Director of "Rava-Ruska Forestry Enterprise" to Court Over Illegal Logging Worth 14.5 Million UAH

Short: The SBI has submitted an indictment to court against the former director of the State Enterprise "Rava-Ruska Forestry Enterprise," suspected of organizing illegal logging in 2023. Over 3,000 trees were destroyed, with damages amounting to nearly 14.5 million UAH.

The State Bureau of Investigation has completed the pre-trial investigation and submitted an indictment to court against the former director of the State Enterprise "Rava-Ruska Forestry Enterprise." He is accused of organizing large-scale illegal logging in the Lviv region.

According to the SBI, in 2023, the official personally approved and signed documents authorizing logging in areas where such activities were prohibited. As a result, according to the investigation, more than 3,000 trees of various species were destroyed.

As reported by the SBI, according to the State Environmental Inspectorate in the Lviv region, the damages caused amount to nearly 14.5 million UAH, assessed as harm to the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine." The suspect was notified of the charges in June 2025, and the indictment is now in court.

The actions of the former director are classified under Part 3 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of official authority resulting in grave consequences) and Part 4 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal logging in forests). The penalties under these articles provide for up to 10 years of imprisonment.

The case will now be considered by the court, with a decision to be made based on the results of the trial.
