Castilla y León Strengthens Its Leadership in Pellet Production in 2025

Short: Castilla y León leads pellet production in Spain in 2025, generating 199,200 tons, standing out for sustainability and quality of the biofuel.

Castilla y León maintains its position of leadership in pellet production in Spain in 2025, contributing 37.5% of the national total and showing clear signs of recovery after the decline recorded in 2023. This year, the autonomous community estimates producing 199,200 tons of pellets, almost all of which are certified, while national production remains stable at 530,000 tons, a figure similar to that of 2024.

According to the Solid Biofuels Map published by Avebiom, production in Castilla y León has registered a slight increase of 4.3% compared to the previous year. The sector in the region currently has 25 plants operating at full capacity, thereby consolidating its position as a national benchmark in the manufacture of this solid biofuel. This stability comes after an 18% drop in production that the sector suffered following the pellet stove buying boom after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Industry experts point out that the current situation suggests a sustained market recovery, supported by both production capacity and the quality certification of pellets manufactured in Castilla y León. The combination of these strengths allows the region to maintain its leadership and project a positive outlook for the coming years. With these figures, Castilla y León reaffirms its role as a driving force in the solid biofuels sector in Spain, consolidating a market that seeks stability and growth after the ups and downs experienced in recent years.
