On March 26, at 10:00, a roundtable discussion “FSC certification in the positive transformation of the forestry sector of Ukraine” will be held. The event will be held in a mixed format - both online and offline. The event is organized by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an international non-governmental organization that promotes environmentally responsible, socially and economically sustainable forest management.
The main purpose of the roundtable is to discuss the role of FSC certification in reforming the forestry industry and woodworking business in Ukraine. FSC certification helps to ensure sustainable forestry development, preserve ecosystems and guarantee responsible use of forest resources. The participants of the event will share their experience in implementing FSC standards, which contribute to the transparency of companies' operations, increase their competitiveness in international markets and attract investment.
Special attention will be paid to the challenges faced by Ukraine's forestry sector in the context of full-scale invasion. Reforming the sector requires a comprehensive approach that takes into account environmental, economic and social aspects. FSC certification plays a key role in this process, as it allows harmonizing Ukrainian forest management standards with international requirements.
Representatives of state authorities, local governments, forestry companies, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions and international donors are invited to participate in the roundtable. The key speakers will include Pavlo Kravets, Director of FSC Ukraine and scientist at UkrRFI, Roberts Strippnieks, member of the Supervisory Board of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”, and Aidas Pivoviunas, Project Manager of FSC Baltic States. The event will be moderated by a well-known journalist and host of the TV channel “We Are Ukraine” Oleh Panyuta.
To participate in the event, you need to register in advance via a special link. Journalists can get accreditation by contacting Ksenia Khromova at fsc@m-p.ua or by phone: 093 878 88 62. The detailed program of the roundtable is available on the official website of FSC Ukraine.
