Romsilva announces the launch of an online store dedicated to the sale of firewood, romsilva.store, an initiative aimed at “simplifying the population's access to this resource and the purchasing process.” At the same time, the agency specifies that direct sales to the population have exceeded 1.75 million cubic meters, and the price has been maintained at the 2024 level, around 300 lei/m³, excluding VAT.
This initiative comes in the context of constant demand for firewood and growing interest in a simpler purchasing process and more predictable supply. Romsilva also emphasizes that price differences may exist between forest districts, depending on the species, assortment, and delivery conditions.
According to the agency, starting this year, the population can purchase firewood through the online platform romsilva.store.
“The population can purchase firewood through the online store romsilva.store starting this year, thus simplifying access to this resource and the purchasing process,” the institution states.
Romsilva specifies that the platform was created “for the first time” with the purpose of promoting and selling timber directly to the population:
“This year, for the first time, we have managed to create an online store through which we aim to promote and sell timber to the population. It is called romsilva.store.”
The agency states that it has sold over 1.75 million cubic meters of firewood directly to the population, about 50,000 cubic meters more than the previous year. At the same time, “the selling price has been maintained at the 2024 level,” namely around 300 lei/m³, excluding VAT.
According to Romsilva, the prices charged by forest districts vary mainly depending on the species, assortment, and place of delivery, being, in most cases, aligned with the price at the harvesting site. Some forest districts offer, for a fee, home delivery and additional services such as cutting or splitting the wood, as well as various delivery formats: bulk wood, packaged in bags, or palletized. The increase in delivered volume is attributed to a “better capacity to respond to demand and ensure continuity of supply.”
For the economic market, Romsilva specifies that, in the first 11 months of the year, it delivered nearly 7 million cubic meters of timber to economic operators, “ensuring continuity of market supply.” The total reported volume is 6,943,071 cubic meters, of which 1,618,771 cubic meters were sold as processed timber at an average price of 410 lei/m³, excluding VAT, and 5,324,300 cubic meters as standing timber, with an average auction price of 228.72 lei/m³, excluding VAT.
The agency indicates an over 21% increase in the volume sold as standing timber, while the average auction price decreased by approximately 7%, amid fluctuations in the timber market, “while maintaining a competitive trading framework.”
For the year 2026, Romsilva announces a harvesting program of 9.35 million cubic meters, evenly split between processed timber (4.67 million cubic meters) and standing timber (4.67 million cubic meters), as a basis for planning the volumes allocated to the two sales channels.
Romsilva manages 4.2 million hectares of forests, of which 3.13 million hectares are state-owned public forests, accounting for approximately 48% of the country’s forest area. Additionally, the agency manages 22 national and natural parks and 12 state stud farms, and the state-owned public forests hold forest management certification according to international standards.
