Price Increase for Wood Pellets in Germany in November

Short: The price of wood pellets in Germany rose by 7.2 percent in November. Nevertheless, wood pellets remain a reliable and cost-effective option.

In November, the price of wood pellets, a popular renewable heating fuel, experienced a seasonal increase. According to the German Pellet Institute (DEPI), the average price per tonne for a six-tonne purchase is 392.62 euros, which is 7.2% more than in the previous month. The current price of one kilowatt-hour of climate-friendly wood energy is 7.85 cents.

As Martin Bentele, CEO of DEPI, explains, price increases at the start of the heating season are typical due to increased demand. Consumers who did not replenish their stocks in the spring or summer are forced to buy fuel at higher tariffs. This year's price increase is more noticeable due to higher production and logistics costs.

Despite this, wood pellets remain a more stable and cost-effective alternative to fossil fuels. The current price advantage of 17.2% compared to heating oil highlights the economic benefits of using pellets for many households.

Local production ensures the wide availability of pellets, and their use as a sustainable energy alternative makes them an attractive option for environmentally conscious consumers. Despite seasonal fluctuations, wood pellets remain a reliable and cost-effective heating solution.
