On the Ukrainian wood market there is an increase in prices and an increase in demand, said the General Director of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine", Yuriy Bolokhovets. Since the beginning of this year, the company has shipped more than 700,000 cubic meters of wood, which is an increase of 60% compared to last year.
Noting the recovery in volumes after stagnation, Bolokhovets added that the volume of contracted timber at the auction exceeded 2 million cubic meters. After the blockade of the borders, Forests of Ukraine decided to hold auctions with lower prices, stabilizing the market.
It is planned to hold additional auctions until March, and the total amount of concluded contracts exceeded UAH 4.1 billion. The average selling price is now about 2100 UAH. per cubic meter, which is an increase compared to the previous period. Bolokhovets emphasized that there is a noticeable improvement not only in sales volumes, but also in price dynamics.
The General Director also noted the effectiveness of anti-crisis measures, in particular strengthening control over the implementation of contracts and putting up unused wood for additional auctions. An adjustment to the procurement plan was also noted in accordance with the concluded contracts to prevent the accumulation of residues and maintain product quality.
