The Western Interregional Forestry and Hunting Department summed up the results of tree planting for the year as part of the Green Country environmental initiative of the President of Ukraine.
According to the Western Interregional Department of Forestry and Hunting, 16.3 million trees were planted in the area of responsibility of the department (Ivano-Frankivsk, Transcarpathian and Lviv regions). Of these, 11.8 million trees were planted in the spring of this year, and 4.5 million trees were planted in the fall.
The department also informs that in 2023, 14 million new seedlings were planted by foresters of the Carpathian Forestry Office of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine", 2.3 million seedlings - by other forest users (municipal, military, specialized agroforestry enterprises) and 4.4 thousand villages - by national parks .
As noted in the Western Interregional Forestry and Hunting Department, traditionally, representatives of local governments, utility companies, educational institutions, as well as the active public and youth actively joined foresters in planting forests and measures to green areas.
During the landscaping activities, local authorities planted 23.4 thousand trees within populated areas.
In particular, in the Lviv region, foresters of the Western Interregional Forestry and Hunting Department and the Carpathian Forest Office planted future young forests together with the NGO “Dobro.Dey” and with the support of the Lviv Regional Military Administration and the Lviv Regional Council.
It is reported that on April 22, on International Earth Day, foresters, government officials, active youth and the public took part in the events of the eco-initiative of the charitable foundation "Greening of Ukraine" - the "1 Million Trees of Life" campaign, where everyone was together at the location of the Vyazovsky forestry of the Lviv Forest branch Economy" of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" on an area of 0.5 hectares, about 3 thousand seedlings were planted, and on October 21, organized tree planting took place in the Zibolkovsky forestry area of the branch "Lviv Forestry" of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine", where, with the help of special equipment, participants After a few hours of the event, about 5.8 thousand seedlings were planted on an area of 1 hectare.
