The Kyiv City Council decided to declare the "Brovarsky forest" a landscape reserve of local importance. - this is a natural territory that includes four forest blocks of Brovary Forestry, with a volume of 125 hectares, the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration reports.
"This new status of the territory of Brovary forestry will contribute to the protection of numerous species of plants and animals included in the Red Book of Ukraine and Resolution 6 of the Berne Convention. Among the rare species of flora found in these areas are the forest lily, the white snowdrop, the curly sparasis and others. Also, during the survey, such rare species of animals as common copperhead, great white heron, European swamp turtle and others were discovered," the report says.
Two 200- and 300-year-old pedunculated oaks growing on Chornobylska Street, 14 in Sviatoshyn district, also received the status of "Two Brothers" botanical monument of nature of local significance. This will preserve their historical and memorial value for future generations.
The Department of Environmental Protection and Adaptation to Climate Change of the KMDA approved the relevant petitions for granting special status to these objects.
