Effective regulation of the timber market in Ukraine: key aspects and prospects

On August 1, an important event for the wood market will take place in Kyiv - a press conference on the topic "Implementation, not imitation: key aspects of effective regulation." The event is organized by the economic development platform Wood Industry UA, and Yuriy Dyug will be the main speaker.

Thanks to the moratorium on the export of raw wood, the Ukrainian woodworking and furniture industry has attracted more than one billion euros of investment over the past ten years, becoming a strategic sector of the economy. The sphere provides work for hundreds of thousands of people and makes a significant contribution to the state budget through taxes.

However, due to deficiencies in regulation, the industry has faced a number of challenges that have led to the closure of many businesses over the past three years. The problem can be solved by implementing complex regulations in the new draft law that will support the development of domestic processing.

Questions for discussion

The main topics that will be discussed during the press conference include:

• The strategic importance and potential of "Made in Ukraine" for the woodworking, furniture and construction industries.
• Weaknesses of the current regulation, which hinder the development of the industry and the creation of furniture industrial parks.
• Principles of fair regulation, necessary for the successful development of the market in the future draft law.
