DEPV: stable production of pellets in the 2nd quarter

6 Aug 2024

In general, a good 30,000 tons more were produced in the first half of the year than in the same period of 2023. Although the supply of roundwood fell in the first half of the year due to less destructive wood and the forest industry's reluctance to cut down, pellet production remains stable, according to the German Pellet Institute (DEPI).

With 99.3%, the highest quality class A1 continued to dominate the German pellet market in the second quarter. The main raw material is sawmill by-products (89.5%). As usual, compared to the first quarter, the share of packaged goods increased significantly (20.1%) to 25.2%. Compared to the last quarterly values, the share of exports increased by 17.4%.
